Awareness Raising Events for and Handover of the Plastic Recycling in Kenya
On 23 and 25 January and 10 & 17 July 2024: Under a private and public partnership scheme, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) entrusted Tobe Shoji Co., Ltd. and ETA et al. to construct a pilot plant of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Juja, Kiambu County, Kenya. The team of Tobe Shoji provided a series of intensive operational and maintenance training to the JKUAT’s staff and associated operators. In order to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, ETA organized three workshops and study tours about the said pilot plant targeting institutions both in the public and private sectors in Kenya. After all those activities, ETA assisted Tobe Shoji and JICA Kenya Office administratively to hand over the ownership of the plant to JKUAT (see the hand-over event).
