ETA Selected for a Bilateral “Project for Capacity Development of Solid Waste Management of Nairobi City”
In September 2012, ETA was selected as a contractor for a bilateral government project between the Government of Kenya and the Government of Japan, called “Project for Capacity Development of Solid Waste Management of Nairobi City”. ETA is supporting City Council of Nairobi and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Expert Team implement activities related to “Pilot Project of Waste Collection and Transportation in Slum Areas in Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and Community-Based Organizations (CBO)”.

ETA Completes an Energy and Waste Solutions Needs Assessment
ETA completed a needs assessment on energy and waste solutions for inhabitants of informal settlements (slums) in Nairobi in August 2012. More than 200 inhabitants were interviewed. Learn more>>

ETA Community Activities
ETA conducted two CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities from July to August 2012: (1) voluntary consultancy work with Unistar Enterprise, a youth group in Kibera Slum, to develop their recycling-related business concept, and (2) training for members of the University of Nairobi Geography Students Society (UNGSS) in field surveying and using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. ETA Article Published in the Magazine Diplomat East Africa
ETA and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) wrote an article about Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT) in the East African region in August 2012 (see pages 40 – 42). The article was published by Global Village Publishers (EA) Limited in Diplomat East Africa, a monthly magazine distributed to both private and public sector organizations, incl. UN agencies, international cooperation agencies, embassies, and regional and governmental organizations in East Africa.
